Dr. Simon Thomas
Dr. Simon Thomas is a Specialist Anaesthetist working across Newcastle and the Central Coast of NSW. He completed his post graduate medical degree at the University of Sydney in 2016; prior to this he graduated from the Australian Defence Force Academy with First Class Honours and The University Medal in Aeronautical Engineering.
He completed his junior medical training on the Central Coast before undertaking anaesthetic training in a broad range of hospitals including Gosford, Coffs Harbour, Royal Prince Alfred, Sydney Children’s Hospital (Randwick), and John Hunter Hospital. During his training he spent a year in retrieval medicine with the Westpac Rescue Helicopter. He maintains his skill set across a broad range of anaesthetic sub-specialties and has a speciality interest in Neuro-Anaesthesia, having completed a fellowship at the John Hunter Hospital.
He works regularly in the John Hunter Hospital, Gosford Hospital and Wyong Hospital, as well as in the private sector. He is a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists. He also serves in the Australian Defence Force as a Medical Officer in the reserves.
Outside of work, you can find Simon either on the sideline of a soccer field cheering on his son, at a dance eisteddfod watching his daughter, or in one of the many local Bunnings.
