Dr. Sam Phillips
Meet Dr. Sam Phillips, your friendly anaesthetist! Sam started his medical journey at the University of New England, completing a Bachelor of Medicine with distinction.
Post-university, Dr. Sam moved to Newcastle, where he embraced anaesthetic training in places like Newcastle, Maitland, and Tamworth. During his training Dr. Sam completed time in retrieval medicine working with the Westpac Rescue helicopter, gaining valuable experience in the transport of critically ill patients throughout northern NSW, by both road and helicopter. He subsequently completed an anaesthetic fellowship at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne.
Dr. Sam is a Staff Specialist Anaesthetist at John Hunter and Belmont Hospitals, as well as working in the private sector. He maintains his skills across a broad range of anaesthetic sub-specialties, with a clinical interest in complex general surgery, ENT, vascular, obstetrics and regional anaesthesia. He is involved in organising the continuing medical education program for anaesthetists at John Hunter Hospital.
When he's not at work, Sam enjoys cycling, running and spending time at the beach with his family.
