Dr. Nick Stewart

Dr. Nick Stewart is a specialist anaesthetist who practices in the Newcastle and Hunter region. He grew up in Sydney before completing his Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Sydney. Prior to medical school, Dr. Stewart was a qualified physiotherapist.

Dr. Stewart worked across regional NSW in his junior doctor years, and gained experience in a variety of surgical specialties and intensive care, before completing his anaesthetic training at Gosford and John Hunter Hospitals. His fellowship year was completed at John Hunter Hospital developing an expertise in Regional Anaesthesia – the performance of ultrasound guided nerve blocks to ensure his patients have the best possible post-operative pain relief.

In addition to private practice, Dr. Stewart holds Staff Specialist appointments at both John Hunter and Maitland Hospitals where he maintains his skills looking after patients of high complexity. He is also responsible for coordinating the preparation for local trainees to pass their final anaesthetic viva examinations.

Outside of anaesthetic practice, Dr. Stewart is a proud father of 3 girls (understandably knows every word to “Let It Go”), failing gardener / landscaper / Bunnings customer, and fairly average but enthusiastic surfer and guitarist.
