Dr. Gary Leung

Dr. Gary Leung is a specialist anaesthetist who completed his undergraduate medical training at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, where he was awarded a Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery with first class honours.

Dr. Leung commenced his postgraduate training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney, before undertaking anaesthetic training in the Hunter New England area, working in Newcastle, Maitland and Tamworth. During this time, he completed a Masters of Medicine in Critical Care through the University of Sydney. He subsequently gained experience in anaesthesia for complex upper gastrointestinal surgery and airway surgery through a fellowship at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

Based in Newcastle, Dr. Leung is a Staff Specialist Anaesthetist at John Hunter and Belmont Hospitals, as well as working in the private sector. He maintains his skills across a broad range of anaesthetic sub-specialties, with a clinical interest in complex general surgery, airway surgery and regional anaesthesia. He is the specialised study unit supervisor for orthopaedic anaesthesia at John Hunter Hospital.

Outside of work, Dr. Leung enjoys playing his nearly 100-year-old piano and creating ceramics for friends and family.
