Dr. Amanda Taylor

Dr. Amanda Taylor is a specialist anaesthetist and a fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists.  Born and raised in Newcastle, she completed her training in this region and enjoys giving back to her local community. She has an interest in education, and its follow-on effects for patient safety. As such, she completed a fellowship in medical simulation and clinical education at the Hunter New England Simulation Centre. She continues to be an instructor for ANZCA emergency response courses and provides quality education, training and accreditation for her colleagues.

In addition to her appointment as a staff specialist anaesthetist at John Hunter and Belmont Hospitals, Dr. Taylor is active at several private hospitals in the area with the aim of providing the best possible care for both adults and children. Working in a tertiary hospital, she maintains skill and expertise in all surgical sub-specialities. Her particular interests lie in obstetrics and gynaecology, general surgery, plastic and skin cancer surgery, neuro surgery and pain management. She also has a masters qualification in Pain Management through the University of Sydney and is well placed to provide a comfortable post-operative period.

Dr. Taylor is committed to providing you with a safe anaesthetic personalised to your needs. She will do all she can to answer your questions and make you feel prepared for your upcoming procedure.

In her spare time, Dr. Taylor has volunteered on a number of overseas medical trips, providing aid and education in countries like Vietnam and Samoa. She also enjoys spending time with her young family and you can find them either by the beach or occasionally on the mountains seeking out bluebird days.
